I have been disappointed in the number of residents coming to board meetings. In the past two we have done quite a bit; changed bond counsel, obtained financial counsel, terminated our fire contract, suspended construction on the fire station, joined Eagle Township and Zionsville in looking at benefits to merging some governmental functions, and borrowing $274,000 to keep afloat.
At both of these meetings we had only one or two residents attend. At the APC meeting on May 17th, there were probably over 120 folks there, most from Union Township who were concerned about the development at 300 South and US 421. While the change in land use nearby effects us positively or negatively, I would suggest that your township board’s actions also effects you, we hope positively, at least in the long term.
I hope you will think of Union Township as your neighborhood, or your corner of the county, which it is.
