Reorganization

The first step in reorganization is complete, the boards of the three entities, Eagle Township, Union Township and the Town of Zionsville all passed the resolution to place the question of whether to reorganize into one new town, on the November ballot. The next step is up to the voters in each township and Zionsville to independently pass the resolution.

A lot has been said that we won’t have a voice in Union anymore and “Zionsville” will dictate to us. Actually the opposite is true. Rather than depending on the county boards whose members are far removed from here for planning and zoning decisions, with reorganization and the redistricting that will have to occur FINALLY those decisions will be made locally – by people you know and see daily in the community. Union will have a major say in planning for its own growth. I really believe that growth is best decided by the local community where it is happening and that is the best reason to VOTE YES, on November 4th.

This is an exciting time that we will be able to plan for growth, which is going to happen whether we reorganize or not. For complete info on reorganization, visit the Committee’s website. If you have a question or comment please leave it below or call the office at 769-5641.
